Miniature circuit breakers usually protect the power supply line in buildings or systems. They are only used at low voltages in domestic, light-industrial or commercial applications. Miniature circuit-breakers tend to be single-phase devices and have a typical rated load current range of up to 100 amps (A) with a maximum short-circuit rating of 16kA at 240 volts (V).
In general Miniature circuit breakers are used in the same applications as semi-enclosed or cartridge fuses and offer an alternative for protecting radial or ring circuits.
